HUMAN
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
knowledge sharing, in-service
training and joint training
With a goal of creating a world class Human Resource
Development environment, this programme comprises knowledge
sharing, in-service training and joint training.
Senior
management workshop
- This is an annual workshop held by the DAC aimed
at introducing the importance of active Human Resource
management and development in relation to Lean Manufacturing
- In addition, this session also provides information
on the DAC’s Human Resource Development programme's
structure and how this framework works to strengthen
the Human Resource capabilities at firms
Training
for HR managers
- These workshops cover both theory and practice in
host plants, and consequently represent a valuable
opportunity for HR practitioners to review and question
the role that HR should play within the scope of Lean
Manufacturing
- Subjects covered in these full day workshops include:
Joint
training
- The aim of the Joint Training initiative is to allow
DAC members to identify common training focus areas
and, using that information, establish reduced costs
and minimum quality standards for the identified training
- The intended outcome of this initiative is therefore
to allow firms to undertake more training for their
budgeted spend
- For details of upcoming joint training sessions
please see the DAC Calendar
Supervisory
training
- A series of training workshops are run for supervisors
and team leaders to build knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
at a shopfloor level
- The workshops serve as a means to establish a better
understanding of the importance of Lean Manufacturing
within the automotive industry through covering theory
and then taking participants on tours of factories
where the theoretical principles have been successfully
applied
- Subjects covered in these full day workshops include:
Topic |
Objective |
An overview
of global & SA automotive industry & World
Class Manufacturing |
Create awareness &
understanding of Global & SA Auto trends,
the identification of key performance indicators
in the auto industry and the link to World Class
Manufacturing |
From theory
to practice: Introducing Total Quality
Management |
To implement TQM in
a firm, Quality Control mechanisms need to be
established, the movement from Quality Control
to Quality Assurance needs to be developed, equipment
reliability and consistency secured, and supplier
quality effectively managed. The objective of
this session is to engage with the importance
& relevance of TQM in the automotive industry
through theoretical analysis and a factory tour,
thus supporting HR in understanding the role that
it should play in this process. |
From theory
to practice: Introducing Just-in-Time
production systems |
To implement JIT systems
in a firm, production stability needs to be secured,
production pulling needs to take place, inventory
needs to flow through the plant and line changeover
flexibility secured. The objective of this session
is to theoretically engage with these practices,
participate in a factory tour and brainstorm their
application in a factory and the role that HR
should play in support of their application. |
From theory
to practice: Introducing Continuous Improvement
processes |
Establishing a Continuous
Improvement culture within firms is dependent
on four inter-linked areas: skills development,
employee motivation, employee participation in
team-based improvement activities and strong Visual
Performance Management. The objective of this
session is to engage with the complexity of Continuous
Improvement through theoretical analysis and a
factory tour. This should ensure practical knowledge
of the application and importance of Continuous
Improvement |
In-service

the details of the learners that they cannot offer
continued employment on the DAC database
- To either access the details of released learners
currently in the database or submit new details of
learners being released please email dac@bmanalysts.com
